The Taunus coupe from the first sight when i picked it up.
Also Darren having a would you look at the ass on that! moment, but to be fair that is the reason i bought one.
The road trip from the uk to the Netherlands was quite an experience and good fun if not a little tiring.
Here is the rest of the first photos.
Interior didn’t look that great when first seen but actually isn’t that bad, just all the parts piled inside.
Me having my proud new owner moment.
Time to get him on the trailer and start the journey home.
First place big enough to pull into and stop to check the straps were still tight, and also check how we were towing as we seamed to be playing a game of how low can the bimmer go, i know its an Mtec but that is low on stock suspension especially when you still have some 200 miles to go in the Netherlands alone.
Well it towed really well and got plenty of attention in the netherlands even down to other motorists honking and giving us the thumbs up, all well and good but this was meant to be a sleeper and couldn’t manage to do that in its own country. sat waiting in line at the docks and just got bombarded by people asking questions as to what it was and old, now starting to think that its never going to be a sleeper and what the hell is going to happen in the uk apart from customs are going to see me a mile away and get the gloves ready….
Finally home and time to unload and have a little look underneath to see exactly what i had bought, turned out to be rather solid with the exception of the arches and inner wing. The Taunus looks tiny sat next to the Mondeo but it was time to cover him up until the weekend when i could come back and have a proper look at him and see what bits were missing.

After a talk with my dad about wheels, he said to try his 18″ alloys to see how they filled the arches, well this was the result and surprised us both how good the style suited to car. they might have to get liberated in the name of the taunus!
first preparations start to the engine.
time for the 2.0L v6 to come out.
now it time to find a replacement.
borrowing the 2.8i from my dads kitcar
now to swap all the brackets and sump over as the 2.8i had a 4×4 sunp and im not looking to run awd in the taunus coupe.
well the 2.8i is fitted in the car but now needs the all the wiring and plumbing doing also need to adapt the air box to fit as it controls the manual injection.

started to look at the exhaust but ran into a little trouble with the lack of exhaust studs and then ran out of time. i received these pics the next day as my dad decided to make an exhaust for me.
looks good now i just need to make the rear section.
Well it looks like “dutch” has a brother now as i have just bought another tc1 coupe, its a 1972 xl 1.6 pinto from Germany but been it the uk since 1983.
also i was talking to steff a little while back and there is another coming to the uk from his stock.
